Install the WordPress plugin

Connect a WordPress site with the Verbolica Connect plugin so Verbolica can publish and measure engagement.

Verbolica publishes to WordPress through a small plugin called Verbolica Connect. You don't need to share a WordPress username or password; the plugin gives you a key instead.

Requirements: WordPress 5.6 or later, PHP 7.4 or later, and permission to install plugins.

Download the plugin

In Verbolica, open the brand's Brand Settings → Connections. In the WordPress card, click the Verbolica Connect plugin link to download the zip file.

Install it on your site

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip file, click Install Now, then Activate.

Copy the connect key

In WordPress, go to Settings → Verbolica Connect and copy the key shown there.

Paste it into Verbolica

Back in the WordPress card in Verbolica, enter the site's address in Site URL (for example https://www.example.com), paste the key into Verbolica Connect key, and save. The card shows Connected when it works.

What the plugin does

  • Publishing: creates and updates posts and pages, including categories, tags, featured images, authors and Yoast SEO fields.
  • Importing: lets Verbolica read your existing posts and pages, including custom post types, so it knows what is already on the site.
  • Engagement tracking: measures scroll depth, active reading time, and clicks on calls to action, outbound links, email and phone links. It uses no cookies and no cross-site tracking.
  • Form tracking: records that a form was submitted on a page, for Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, Ninja Forms, WPForms and Elementor forms. It records the form and the page, never what was typed into the form.
  • Elementor support: designed pages publish as native, editable Elementor content, using the brand's colours and fonts.

Updates

The plugin updates itself through the normal WordPress plugin updates screen. Keep it up to date: some Verbolica features need a recent version and will tell you if yours is too old.

Import existing content

Once connected, use Brand Settings → Connections to import the site's existing posts and pages. Imported content appears in the Library, and Verbolica uses it to link new articles to existing ones and to avoid writing duplicates.

Using Cloudflare or a security plugin?

Firewalls sometimes block Verbolica's requests. See WordPress publishing problems to allow them through.
