Approvals
Send work for a decision, collect feedback and decide what happens when nobody answers.
Approvals are how clients sign off work before it goes live. An approval request can hold one draft, many drafts, a list of topics, or a strategy.
Send work for approval
Select the drafts you want reviewed and click Request approval. The dialog lists the brand's approvers:
- Main approvers are always included and can't be unticked.
- Tick anyone else who should review.
Everyone ticked gets an email with a link to review and decide. They don't need to log in.
What approvers can do
For each item, an approver can:
- Approve it, so it moves on to scheduling and publishing.
- Ask for changes, saying what to change. The team reworks it and sends it back.
- Decline it, saying why. Nothing is changed and the team is told.
Approvers can also highlight passages and comment on them.
Agency staff can record a decision a client gave elsewhere, for example on a call, with Approve on behalf of client or Decline on behalf of client.
Who the approvers are
Set approvers on the brand's Automation page, in the Approvers card. Client users on the brand can always approve. You can add team members as approvers, and mark anyone as a main approver.
Reminders and silence
If nobody answers, a reminder goes out after 3 days.
What happens next depends on the brand's What silence means setting on the Automation page:
- Approvals pass on their own is off: requests wait until someone decides.
- Approvals pass on their own is on: a request nobody answers is approved after the number of days you set (0 to 30, 5 by default). The approval history marks it as passed on silence.
Silence can publish
With auto-approval on, unanswered work can go live without anyone reading it. Agree the setting with your client before you turn it on.
Decisions are permanent
Once a request is decided, it can't be edited. This keeps an honest record of who approved what and when. To change approved work, edit the draft and send a new request.
Off-platform work
Use a custom approval request to get sign-off on things Verbolica didn't produce, such as a design file or an ad campaign.
